Scope of Position: Provides leadership and supervision to the House Parents within the Group Care team to ensure quality services and support within each home for each child placed in the care of WinShape Homes Group Care. Leads House Parent team in providing support, counsel, encouragement and seeks to advocate for needs of parents while ensuring administrative and compliance tasks are completed according to WinShape Homes and state licensure guidelines.  

 

Reports to: Director, WinShape Group Care – Homes  

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, supervision, accountability and support to the House Parent team regarding rules, regulations, current issues, and emergencies including being available during nights, holidays, and weekends. 
  • Leads recruiting and onboarding/training process for new House Parents.  
  • Leads child/home meetings, in conjunction with Manager, Group Care Support and Senior Intake Counselor that can include placement meetings, stabilization meetings, discharge meetings etc. regarding the individual care of a child. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the House Parent “Homes Care Capacity” section and communicating with the team when any major changes in capacity occur related to the Home/Parents. 
  • Leads monthly virtual House Parent check in meetings to discuss current program updates or needs from a parent perspective. 
  • Conducts in-person home visits with each couple at minimum of quarterly and more as needed if a Homes Care Capacity is currently on hold due to family or child circumstances in order to provide additional support.  
  • Provides regular touch points with each parent to check-in, providing ample space to listen to current situations and hear what needs are identified, establish goals, provide guidance and conduct annual reviews. 
  • Responds to incidents as a support to the parent, during significant incidents responding in person when at all possible.  
  • Addresses needs or change required as needed with House Parents when practices in a home are outside of the licensing requirements or policies and procedures or key ingredients of the Group Care program. 
  • Manages process for House Parent Retention and Exit Strategy plan as approved by the Foundation. 
  • Works with House Parents and Licensing and Training Coordinator to help ensure each home has adequate relief parent support for time off, assists in recruitment and interviewing relief parents, and manages the scheduling and coverage planning of the House Parent, Support and Relief role. 
  • Participates regularly in WinShape Group Care Leadership Meetings with supervisor and peer team. 
  • Participates and leads team through CQI process including all interviews with parents and children and helps share CQI follow up updates with team and seeks input and advocates for areas to improve to overall service delivery and support provided within our teams. 
  • Works closely with Manager, Group Care Support and team to ensure alignment between support staff and House Parents. 
  • Attends all meetings and trainings required by the Director, WinShape Group Care – Homes and the WinShape Foundation 
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director, WinShape Group Care – Homes  

Qualifications

Spiritual: 

  • A self-professing Christ-follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis 
  • Exemplifies servant leadership as modeled by Jesus Christ 
  • Commitment to discipleship, prayer and Bible Study 

 

Education: 

  • Possess a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in human services or leadership related field. 
  • Body of knowledge and skills related to the responsibilities of the position, especially in the field of child welfare, trauma, and attachment.  

 

Professional: 

  • 6 years plus work experience in a child welfare setting, specifically related to Residential Group Care 
  • Demonstrates ability to lead a diverse group of professionals 
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills including the ability to relate well to adults, children, and government officials 
  • Has servant heart and attitude 
  • Demonstrates ability to deal with difficult situations effectively 
  • Requires domestic travel to assigned homes, retreats, court hearings, and meetings 
  • Conflict resolution proficiency 
  • Requires regular office hours when not traveling  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Cleared safety checks (fingerprint background, Child Abuse Registry, Sex Offender Registry, Pardons and Parole, Department of Corrections), motor vehicle record check, and National Student Clearinghouse. 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and has an acceptable driving record. 

 

Preferred: 

  • House Parent or Foster Parent experience 
  • Licensed social worker or counselor 
  • Supervisory experience in prior roles
