Scope of Position: Assists Food Service Leadership in the preparation of meals and the oversight of food safety, stewardship, ministry, and service standards within the Food Service department.  

 

Reports to: Chef de Cuisine

Responsibilities

  • Prepares guest and staff meals and execution of Food Service standards 
  • Supervises the day-to-day kitchen operation at the request of Executive Chef 
  • Provides leadership, support, motivation, and development of Food Service staff, train and coaching as necessary to ensure operational excellence 
  • Prepares and assures appropriate preparation and presentation of all culinary products 
  • Assists in stock management, purchasing, and ordering  
  • Participates in staff training, development, menu planning, cost control, and inventory 
  • Maintains visible presence with guests at any and all locations when food service is provided 
  • Opens and closes the kitchen according to WinShape Retreat standards 
  • Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned by Food Service Leadership 

Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma 
  • Minimum of 5 years kitchen experience  
  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude for increasing skill level relative to food service 
  • Provide an atmosphere that inspires high performance levels of supervisors, peers, and staff 
  • Willing to assist others whenever possible 
  • Committed to being present at all shifts - 40/45 hours per week 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health codes  
  • ServSafe certified or an ability to obtain within 90 days 
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record 
  • Ability to lead and direct staff in all aspects of food service (meals, breaks, preparation for future meals and breaks, sanitation, receiving and control of inventory, food safety, and presentation of both food and open kitchen areas) 
  • Intermediate computer and math skills 
  • Ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.  
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively in an environment with competing demands
