Scope of Position: The counselor position will provide individual and family counseling services in order to bring the inner healing ministry of Jesus Christ to foster children in our group care homes.   

Participates on staff team: Works closely with intake staff, Child Caring Institution (CCI) HSP’s, and house parents of WinShape Homes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, family, and group counseling as directed to WinShape children and parents, and work a flexible schedule that includes evenings 
  • Keeps clinically professional documentation maintaining confidentiality of all clients, and maintain HIPAA (1996) compliance standards 
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and builds a treatment plan for each child in care receiving counseling services 
  • Participates in case consultations with Intake staff, HSPs, Case Managers, House Parents, and collaborating professionals as determined  
  • Provides intensive session(s) when needed for WinShape Homes children across the states where Homes are located 
  • Attends clinical treatment team meetings, WinShape Foundation, and WinShape Homes events, trainings, and retreats as assigned 
  • Maintains continuing education state requirements for professional licensure 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director 

Qualifications

Spiritual: 

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis 
  • Committed to discipleship, prayer, and Bible study 
  • Servant leadership as modeled by Jesus Christ 

Education: 

  • Holds a Master’s Degree, LPC, Ph.D., or Psych.D. from a regionally accredited college or university 
  • Currently license for professional counseling or professional clinical mental health 
  • Body of clinical knowledge and skills related to the responsibilities of the position, especially in the field of foster care, trauma, and attachment 
  • Valid driver’s license and is insurable 

Professional: 

  • Minimum 4 years as a licensed counselor (including Masters internship) 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working clinically within child welfare indutstry 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teambuilding and teamwork 
  • Must be willing to travel in a WinShape Foundation vehicle to help children in crisis, attend workshops, seminars, and meetings 
  • Experience in individual, family, and group counseling with a wide range of clients, including children 

Preferred: 

  • Fully licensed to counsel professionally in GA, AL, and TN 
  • Trauma certification 
  • Play therapy certification 
  • Master’s degree from a CACREP accredited university
