Scope of Position: The Temporary Summer Server is responsible for providing timely and friendly service. The Server fosters a hospitable environment allowing for exceptional experience for all guests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving meals, breaks, and beverage items; set up, arrangement, and take down of furniture; helping in kitchen with preparation, cleaning kitchen and front house.

 

Reports to: Manager, Dining Services and Catering

Responsibilities

  • Creates a warm, welcoming environment through service excellence 
  • Serves meals and breaks in the Great Hall and in various locations on a regular basis 
  • Follows opening and closing procedures for The Great Hall and service equipment 
  • Collaborates with the Culinary team and Event Operations team to ensure breaks and meals outside of the Great Hall are executed with excellence 
  • Maintains the stock and cleanliness of self-serve beverage and break areas, kitchen areas and equipment in the Great Hall and across the various food service locations on campus 
  • Operates, maintains and cleans the dish room equipment and area when needed 
  • Maintains clean and orderly back areas and storage areas 
  • Appropriately suggests opportunities for continuous improvement as it relates to this position 
  • Performs additional duties and tasks as assigned 

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of hospitality related work experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and work independently and/or with a team, makes quick decisions with confidence, can problem solve with a positive attitude 
  • Available mid-May through August 
  • Able to carry and/or lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds 
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends 
  • Requires valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
