Scope of Position: Provides support to potential and current foster and respite families through the assessment of qualifications, compliance and completion of initial home studies as well as yearly re-evaluations.

 

Reports to: Supervisor, Resource and Development – Foster Care

Responsibilities

  • Completes foster family home studies to regulation standard for the purpose of recommending State approval or re-approval
  • Collects and assesses all needed paperwork, interviews, background checks, and collateral information in order to verify the motivation, dynamics, functioning, and skill set for fostering of the applicant while alerting leadership of any concerns regarding potential problems that may arise in each home
  • Completes and uploads all required documentation in GA-SCORE and Extended Reach within the time constraints laid out by both Sate and WinShape policy in order to maintain licensure and contracting requirements
  • Ensures that all foster homes and their files remain in compliance according to State and WinShape Foster Care licensing and contracting standards
  • Continually supports families through the home study process by maintaining timely communication to address questions and concerns
  • Assists in facilitating foster parent pre-service trainings and continuing education trainings for prospective foster and respite parents as needed in order to gain knowledge of those wanting to become approved homes
  • Travels throughout the State to conduct in home visits at the convenience of the applicants to include nights and weekends
  • Attends all meetings and trainings required by the Director of Foster Care, Senior Director, WinShape Foundation, and the State of Georgia.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Foster Care

Qualifications

Spiritual:

  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis
  • Commitment to discipleship, prayer, and Bible study
  • Servant leadership as modeled by Jesus Christ 

Education:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of Social Work, Psychology or the Behavioral Sciences

Professional:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a child welfare setting
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, complex problems, and projects simultaneously.
  • Skilled writer able to use effective, clear, and concise writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use strong discernment and decision making skills while treating clients, staff, foster parents, and external contacts with respect
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills
  • Ability to assess family and home environments for safety
  • Possesses the ability to use discretion and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including telephone, email, written documentation, and face-to-face communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or the Behavioral Sciences
  • NTDC Trainer Certified
  • SAFE Home Study Certified
  • Working knowledge of GA SHINES, GA SCORE, and Extended Reach database systems
