Scope of Position: Collaborate with the Camper Care team throughout the year to hire, train, and prepare camp staff for the summer. Serves as a member of the Summer Leadership Team at one summer camp location. Provide leadership to the Camper Care summer staff (which includes 40-90 camp counselors) at one summer camp location.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the Summer Leadership Team at one WinShape Camps for Girls location.   
  • Ensures a safe environment with opportunities for campers to develop spiritually, emotionally, and socially throughout the summer (and year-round). Serve as the point person for any camper or Camper Care staff crisis at the camp location in the summer.  
  • Hires, train, develop, and oversee the Camper Care summer staff at the camp location. The staff typically includes four to eight direct reports in the summer and a total Camper Care summer staff of anywhere from 40-90 people depending on the specific camp location. Evaluate summer performance and make recommendations for future employment with WinShape Camps.   
  • Serves as the point person with campers at the camp location – including policy enforcement, WinShape Camps Honor Code implementation as well as assisting in the creation of the camper pre-summer communication. 
  • Serves as the point person with parents at the camp location – including regular communication with parents during the summer as well as assisting in the creation of the parent pre-summer communication.  
  • Serves as the point person for policy enforcement regarding campers, parents, and summer staff at the camp location.  
  • Assists with the creation of Camper Care budget lines related to the summer camp location and monitor expenses to insure fiscal responsibility.   
  • Oversees the spiritual development and investment in the summer staff and campers at the camp location. 
  • Assists the Camper Care team in carrying out any and/or all year-round activities and events that are planned for campers and parents (typically 2-3 events a year). 
  • Contribute to camp-wide success as a whole through serving on work teams and serving with other camp support teams when needed. 
  • Represents WinShape Camps on occasional recruiting runs to help us fill up our summer staff needs. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.   
  • 3-5 years of camp experience preferred 
  • This role requires gender-specific tasks during the summer that require female representatives. This includes: 
  • Ability to interact with campers within the living quarters  
  • Cabin supervision  
  • Delicate gender specific conversations with campers, staff and parents 
  • Experience in project management. 
  • Demonstrates skills in written and verbal communication, time-management, organization, and multi-tasking. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. 
  • Willing to relocate to a WinShape Camps for Girls location in the summer.  
  • Maintain regular office hours at the WinShape Camps office in Atlanta during the non-camp season and engage in moderate travel throughout the year (10-20%). 
  • A self-professing Christ follower, actively involved in a Christian faith community and actively pursuing Christ on a consistent basis. 
  • Must hold or obtain a valid driver’s license for the state in which they are hired and have an acceptable driving record.
